Biography

Dr. Derek Gearman is a board-certified urologist. He completed his undergraduate education at the University of Minnesota and earned his medical degree from the Sanford School of Medicine at the University of South Dakota. He went on to complete a urology residency at the Mayo Clinic School of Graduate Medical Education in Rochester, MN.

After leaving his residency, he spent time at Mayo Clinic Arizona, where he developed an expertise in holmium laser enucleation of the prostate (HoLEP). Dr. Gearman says, “I felt this was an underrepresented procedure in the state of Minnesota, and I wanted to bring this highly effective surgical option to my patients.” To date, he has worked with thousands of BPH patients and performed over 800 HoLEP procedures. Dr. Gearman also enjoys helping his patients with many different types of urologic problems.

In his free time, Dr. Gearman enjoys golfing, fishing, and snowboarding.
