Biography

Kate McPherson has worked in the healthcare field since 1993 and recently joined the team in the Center for Continence Care at Minnesota Urology as an InterStim Nurse in October, 2011. Throughout her nursing career, she has provided care to patients with urological dysfunction due to spinal cord injury, brain injury, stroke, MS, CP, Spina Bifida, as a complication of back problems and many other medical diagnoses. Kate understands the importance of supporting patients and their caregivers by listening carefully and communicating their concerns to the physician.

As an InterStim nurse, Kate guides patients through the entire process from educating them about the InterStim sacral neurostimulator, to assisting with trial stimulation procedure, and preparing patients for upcoming implant surgery. Once the device is implanted, Kate continues to assist patients in helping to “fine tune” the programming of the InterStim therapy system, allowing the patient to reach optimal benefit and relief of urinary symptoms.
