Biography

Dr. Shapiro immigrated from Ukraine as a young child and grew up outside of Seattle, WA. He attended the University of Washington, earning a degree in Physiology.

After graduating, Dr. Shapiro taught high school science on the Pine Ridge American Indian Reservation for two years. He left the classroom to pursue his medical education at the University of Washington in Seattle, WA. He completed his urology residency at the State University of New York at Buffalo in Buffalo, NY.

Dr. Shapiro decided to pursue urology after a chance encounter with a urologist. After he organized a shadowing experience, it quickly became clear that urologists got to treat the key issues relating to patients’ quality of life while utilizing varied and cutting-edge surgical approaches.

Dr. Shapiro has a wife and two daughters. When he’s not at work, he mostly tries to keep up with his young girls. And when he has the time, he enjoys hiking, exploring breweries, and playing board games.
